Celebrating Impact, Opportunity & Generosity — Summer 2026 Edition

Time to Celebrate

2025 and the start of 2026 has been an amazing time for The Yolanda Moore Foundation.

Since the foundation was founded we have raised more than £130,000. In the last 12 months  we have supported twenty young people to help achieve some of their dreams.

Thank you for your time and generosity for helping to make this happen.
Stories That Inspire

Your generosity has made a massive difference to some really deserving young people. We want to share the stories of those you’ve helped by donating, running, walking, swimming . . . crawling  . . . . Every single penny you’ve raised has helped an amazing young person with their next steps. As you’ll see, some of these young people come back to tell us what a difference you made, even after a considerable amount of time! Thank you!

From a Previous Applicant
"I was so incredibly grateful to receive a laptop grant from your foundation in September 2021. That support changed my life. It helped me start and then complete my degree in History, where I graduated with First Class Honours and a First in my dissertation. Since then, I’ve worked with the Stradling Collection, and incredible museum and cultural institute in Bristol, where I produced and even co-curated three major public exhibitions in history, design, and architecture. Every piece of work I created was written on the laptop you gave me, it’s been with me every step of the way. "
Grant Recipient Highlights

Lutia’s Journey
"The Yolanda Moore Foundation generously supported my 8 month voluntary gap year placement in Japan which I completed in August 2025.
I had an amazing 8 months that may not have been possible without the grant I received. This experience allowed me to learn about a new country and language, and I feel so lucky to now have connections to a country on the other side of the world.
Living and working in a new country had its challenges but it has helped me develop my confidence, independence and I definitely want to do more voluntary work in future. "
Ibrahim’s Clinical Placement
“This generous support has helped me afford travel and accommodation for my placement, allowing me to focus on gaining valuable experience without the added stress of financial worries. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity. Thanks again for your support and encouragement.”
Ryan’s Achievement
"Ryan learnt late last night he had passed the whole Level 2 swimming teacher course! What a week, he’s off to Birmingham on Saturday as a finalist in The Swim England National Awards as Youth Champion along with his GB Deaf swimming Team who have been nominated as Inclusive Team of the Year. Thank you so much for giving Ryan the opportunity by providing funding we are truly grateful."

Chloe’s Gratitude
“The Yolanda Moore Foundation supporting me with my online learning fees has made such a difference and I am so grateful for their support with my studying journey - thank you!”

Korede’s Opportunity
"Thanks for this support, I’m now able to start my coaching course, something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I’m really grateful for the opportunity."
Hannifah’s Determination
”I’ve been pushing to get into mechanical engineering for 4 years now. There have been many limitations along the way but I’m grateful to the supporters of the Yolanda Moore Foundation for helping me embark this route in a way that means I don’t have to compromise my beliefs either. They have really helped me get into engineering despite my limitations. Thank you. “
Ramses’ Passion
“I would just like to say I am very grateful for this. It has always been my passion to pursue my sports coaching dreams and now I am finally able to do this as well as help others. Thank you so much”
Charmaine’s Next Steps
“ I’m really grateful for Yolanda Moore foundation for giving me the funding to pursue something that I’m sure will make a difference to many lives including mine. I’m so excited and looking forward to starting my short course”
Grace’s Expedition
“I am incredibly grateful to have received The Yolanda Moore Foundation Grant, which has made it possible for me to join a research expedition to Honduras. This opportunity means a great deal to me, as it will allow me to develop essential skills in zoological research and gain hands-on experience that I hope to carry forward into a future career in exploration and discovery. This award has transformed my long-held aspiration to contribute to meaningful conservation research into a reality, and I cannot thank the charity enough for its generous support.”
Rosemary's Transformational Medical Journey
“I am extremely grateful for the grant from the Yolanda Moore Foundation. The grant contributed towards a formative experience for both my professional and personal life. I have been afforded many memories to reflect on, techniques to refine my own patient approach, and skills to develop my confidence as a clinician. It showed me that medicine is about the patient as much as it is about the clinician. I gained confidence to approach life as a doctor, realising that my contributions, however small, are valuable to any team I am a part of.
My six-week period in Tokyo, Japan, involved rotating through obstetrics and gynaecology, urology and ENT at Juntendo University Hospital. I gained experience in a variety of clinical settings including on the ward, in theatre and outpatient clinics. In addition to my timetabled sessions, I had the opportunity to attend healthcare seminars with other international healthcare professionals at Juntendo University, as well as multidisciplinary team meetings and weekly departmental meetings. My objectives were to compare surgical culture in Japan with the UK, investigate the role of healthcare in an ageing population and strengthen my cultural competence. It was also a unique opportunity for self-assessment and reaffirming my commitment to my career aspirations.
I would like to extend my gratitude to the teams and students at Juntendo University Hospital who showed openness and generosity in their teaching and encouragement. I will never forget my time in Japan and that is testament to the welcoming nature of the elective experience. I am deeply grateful and keen to return in the future. A special thank you to the Yolanda Moore Foundation, who believed in me. I cannot express my gratitude enough. Thank you.

I am pleased to report that I have since graduated as a doctor, with a keen interest to contribute to the field of medical education through widening participation. I am currently pursuing a Specialised (Academic) Foundation Programme with a research component focussed on medical education beginning December 2026. In addition to my Specialised Foundation Programme post, I have been awarded the titular status of Honorary Fellow. In relation to my interests in widening participation and medical leadership, I was recently selected as the Hospital Representative for my NHS Trust, focussing on Quality Improvement. In addition, I was elected as the Foundation School Representative for my deanery after a competitive application process. The responsibility allows me to work directly with the UK Foundation Programme Office, NHS England and the Foundation Programme Director to implement tangible change to the resident doctor experience. It is through these roles that I represent over 300 doctors across the region.
Thank you again for believing in me. I am determined to give back one day. "
Community Impact – Wānaka
Yolanda loved Wanaka and the children she taught there. We’re delighted that this work continues. Jason, Deputy Head of Wanaka Primary School, says "On behalf of Wānaka Primary School, I would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Trust for your generous support of our community.
Your kind donation supported 11 children this year. This included a mix of students in our five-day programme and several first-time skiers experiencing the mountains for the very first time.
Specifically, the Trust provided essential relief for families facing financial hardship, as well as three families navigating unimaginable personal loss: two who recently lost a parent, and another supporting a parent undergoing terminal cancer treatment. For these families, the mountains are a place of connection. Being able to support their children in continuing a sport their parents loved—and honouring the value those parents placed on these outdoor experiences—is truly special.
While the season’s weather was a bit unpredictable, causing us to miss one of our scheduled five days, the conditions eventually settled. We were grateful to get some great coverage across both mountains, ensuring the children had a memorable time on the slopes.
Thank you again for making these opportunities possible. "

Every Contribution Matters

As always, we are so grateful to everyone who raises money for us. Not all of our fundraising involves big events. We’d like to say massive thank you to those people who donate directly to the Foundation either annually, monthly or from time to time. Some donate on “special days” and others, when they can afford it.
And of course, so many of you make donations to those wonderful (if not slightly mad!) people who do all sorts of amazing things to raise money - run, walk, cycle, play tennis, stay awake, give up something . . . the list goes on.
No matter how the funds are raised and donated, when making decisions about who we support, we always ask, “would we be okay with my hard raised and earned money supporting this person?”
We promise, every single penny raised goes to directly to supporting a truly deserving young person. Any Foundation running costs are covered privately.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Together, we are changing lives.
